Fiets versturen vanaf Griekenland naar Bulgarije

Bulgaria and Greece share a border along the Rhodope Mountains, making this one of the shortest cross-border cycling corridors in southeastern Europe. Greek riders from Thessaloniki regularly cross into Bulgaria for high-altitude training near Pamporovo, while Bulgarian cyclists head south to ride the coastal roads of Crete and the volcanic switchbacks of Rhodes. Mount Olympus on the Greek side adds a mythical dimension to any cycling itinerary.

The border crossing between these two neighbours funnels through the Drama and Blagoevgrad corridors, where riders can pedal from the Aegean lowlands into the Rhodope highlands within a single long day. Greek cyclists training in the Macedonian plains around Thessaloniki use the Bulgarian side of the range to build climbing strength at altitude, while Bulgarian riders who descend toward Kavala and the Halkidiki peninsula discover warm coastal roads that stay rideable well into November. The shared Rhodope terrain means many trails and back roads cross the border without fanfare, creating a seamless riding experience.

Bike shipping between Bulgaria and Greece benefits from the short overland distance, with most deliveries completed in two to four business days via routes through the Kulata or Kapitan Andreevo border crossings. Both countries are EU members, so there are no customs barriers or import duties to navigate. buycycle manages the logistics from door to door, ensuring your bike is properly packed and tracked throughout its journey.
